We’re all familiar with Android 12’s Dynamic Color feature. While it’s a cool feature, it really limits the control users have over the color scheme. However, according to 9To5Google, the new app called Repainter will allow users to access more control over the Dynamic Color feature.
What is dynamic color and how is it limited?
This is definitely old news, but in case you haven’t heard of it, Dynamic Color is one of the most popular features in Android 12. It selects certain colors that are present in your wallpaper. phone and create a custom color scheme that will work throughout the phone user interface.
It’s one of my personal favorite features, but it’s pretty limited. The software itself will choose the colors of the scheme and give you four different options. There is no way to really personalize your color scheme, and it may not be right for some users.
In addition, the colors chosen by the system are all muted by nature. Some people wish there were more vivid colors in their software, but these are all toned down by Google.
This is where the Repainter app comes in.
The prayers of Android 12 users have been answered in the form of the new app called Repainter. This app provides users with a plethora of customization tools to help them customize their color scheme. You can choose and refine the colors present throughout your software.
If you want saturated, melt-in-the-eye color, you can. If you want a monochrome theme, go for it! You are in charge.
There is a catch, however
If you are reading this and thinking “I bet this requires my phone to be rooted” then you would be largely right. The Repainter application was originally fully functional without root access; too good to be true, right? However, due to the January security patch, the app cannot do all it can.
For this reason, the developers had to make some changes. These changes will unfortunately cause the app to be limited on non-rooted devices. Non-rooted devices will still be able to choose their colors, but that’s about it.
Getting this app shouldn’t be too difficult
As with most apps like this, this involves getting more than one app. You’re going to want to download Shizuku first. This is a free downloadable application from the Play Store. After this point, you will be able to download the beta version of Repainter. Just note that the download costs $ 4.99.
Repainter will work on Pixel devices, and that’s it for now. There is a version for One IU 4 coming soon, but it is not known when it will be released.
