A continuously cast color changing acrylic sheet recently introduced by Plaskolite LLC, Columbus, Ohio, would eliminate the need for perforated vinyl to achieve the same coloring effect, providing a clean, simple, single-source solution for spectacular signage day or night.

Optix-L Black / White sheet appears black in daylight and white when backlit at night. A a unique formulation is used to produce a double-sided glossy acrylic sheet which offers the black / white effect in interior or exterior applications. It is available from stock at a thickness of 0.177 with custom prints also available. “This product eliminates the need for a second coat to achieve the desired effect in day or night light conditions, reducing material costs and streamlining panel construction,” said Jim Richards, vice president of the industrial division of Plaskolite.

Optix-L Black / White represents the continued investment and innovation in the former continuous cast acrylic sheet business of Lucite International in North America, which was acquired by Plaskolite in February 2018. The acquisition of The Memphis plant, where Optix plate products are manufactured, was one of Plaskolite’s many Acquisitions in 2018. The company also acquired the Covestro PC Sheet Company, Rotuba’s extruded lighting plate and profile lighting business, and ALP Lighting Components’ lighting panel and profile business.
