Everyone’s favorite hero Spider-Man will be back in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. First announced during the PlayStation Showcase, the sequel will see Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up against Venom. We don’t know how the game’s narrative will be shaped, but according to Marvel, it will tackle heavier themes than either of its previous games.

As reported by Eurogamer, Vice President and Creative Director of Marvel Games Bill Rosemann said the game will be darker. But how much could he Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to have? “If the first Spider-Man game was Star wars, Spider-man 2 is a bit our Empire [Strikes Back]Rosemann said on the This Week In Marvel podcast.

The previous two Spider Man the games were relatively light and didn’t have a lot of dark themes in the narrative. After all, Spider Man is a very friendly and funny superhero. He doesn’t kill the bad guys in the game; he hangs them right on top of huge skyscrapers. Given that Spider-man 2 will feature villains such as Venom and Kraven the Hunter, the former voiced by a horror veteran Tony todd, it’s no wonder this sequel leans toward darker elements.
