from disney Frozen became the healthy fairy tale of choice for this generation. Just go to one of the Disney parks and you will see ten little girls dressed as Anna or Elsa for each Snow White or Jasmine. And Frozen is so visually pure as snow (pun intended entirely), even the villain looks like a traditional good guy. So luckily someone came to give Frozen some much needed darkness. And just in time for the spooky season.
Going through The AV Club, we discovered a video of the artist Jordan persegati, who creates spooky horror versions of cute children’s favorites on her YouTube channel. And now he took two dollars Frozen coloring book and brought Halloweentown to kingdom of Arendelle. (Therefore, to say). You can watch the full video right here.
In starting things he does Olaf the snowman into a creature of the same proportions made of flesh and blood. Throw stringy, spooky hair at her, and we’ve got the Disney version of Samara from The ring. “Do you want to build a snowman?” Hmm, not if he looks like that! Troll rock also seems to come from a nightmare storyline. But the scariest makeover? When Anna transforms into something that looks like Linda Blair from The Exorcist. And it’s a nice touch to use The Exorcist theme for its moment of revelation.
Persegati has a ton of other “cute to scary” videos on her channel. The McDonaldland characters are another example of those who are fair super terrifying, with a Five nights at Freddy’s Makeover. Well, Ronald McDonald was already a little scary, but now he’s manner worse. And there are similar horror makeover videos for Thomas the Tank Engine, Dora the Explorer, and even My little Pony. Watching one of them is sure to get one in the Halloween spirit. Maybe don’t watch with your kids. You could traumatize them a little bit.
