I AM SO IMPATIENT
Since the start of the pandemic, online grocery ordering has really taken off here in central Minnesota. At first I think people thought it was going to cost them a lot of extra money to have their groceries delivered, but once they tried calling the grocery stores and ordering for delivery they realized : “Wow! It’s pretty cool! “
THE FIRST DAYS OF ONLINE SHOPPING
I embraced ordering my groceries online from the start. Previously, you could do your grocery shopping online on Sunday mornings at 6 a.m. and have your groceries either ready to be picked up in two hours or delivered the same day.
Now, while this is still great service, that quick turnaround time has certainly gone down. I have tried several times to order my groceries needing it on the same day, and now I have to wait 2-3 days before they are delivered.
RETURN THE TIME SAVING
So last week I saw something called INSTACART. Instacart is a personal shopper delivery experience, which completely changed that experience. I have ordered twice from Lund & Byerly in the last 10 days, and both times my order was delivered to my door within an hour!
In central Minnesota, I currently have the ability to shop at the following stores with Instacart:
- Lund & Byerly’s
- Fresh thyme market
- Sam’s club
- Teddy bear to pick up only
- CVS Pharmacy
- Five below
- Bed, bath and beyond
- The vitamin store
- Von Hanson’s Meats
- Best buy
- The wine shop
- Dick’s sporting goods and more
The first time I used the service I made purchases online which was very easy to do. The second time around, I downloaded the INSTACART app to my phone and ordered everything I needed from my phone. I did my shopping in less than an hour.
There are some really cool features that they offer. First, they let you know if they run out of an item in the store and ask if you want the buyer to find a replacement item. If you say yes, they will find something similar, maybe a different brand, if you agree to it.
I also like that there is a chat function. You can chat with your client. You can also order something even if you have already placed your order. If they’re still at the store, they’ll go ahead and add it to your order.
I was also very impressed with the selection and the prices. I have found several discounted items and know I saved time and money by not going into the store to see everything. I just choose what I really need and they deliver. I usually end up spending a few hundred dollars at the grocery store. This week, I have half of it. They say that on average, buying with your app saves you three hours of driving and shopping for yourself.
If you are someone who does their shopping the day you need them, this is truly great service to have in our area.
